Home / How it works

From your hands to theirs, with proof at every step

CarryBuddies isn't a courier network. It's a matching layer with verification, escrow and evidence built in — so two strangers can complete a delivery with confidence.

Sending a parcel

Five steps from post to proof of delivery

The whole flow is designed around one question: if something goes wrong, can we prove what actually happened?

1 · Post the parcel and declare the contents

Give us the pickup city, drop city, weight, dimensions and — most importantly — an honest description of what's inside plus its approximate value. You'll confirm the prohibited-items policy on every booking. The declaration is binding — it's what a dispute is judged against today, and what protection cover will be based on once that launches.

2 · Choose a verified traveller

We surface people whose published trip matches your route and timing. Each profile shows verification level, trust score, star rating, completed deliveries and cancellation rate. Message them in-app to agree timing and price — contact numbers stay masked until pickup is confirmed.

3 · Pay into escrow

You pay CarryBuddies, never the traveller directly. The money is held by our payment partner for the full duration of the trip. The traveller can see the funds are secured — which is exactly why they'll accept your parcel — but they can't touch them until delivery is verified.

4 · Hand over with an OTP

At pickup you share a 4-digit code. The traveller enters it and photographs the sealed parcel — both are timestamped and geotagged. Nothing moves without that code, so a parcel can never be collected by the wrong person or claimed as collected when it wasn't.

5 · Track live, then confirm delivery

Follow the trip on the map and get status pushes at each milestone. At the other end the receiver shares their own OTP and the traveller captures a delivery photo. Only when that closes does escrow release the traveller's payout — and both of you rate each other, which feeds the trust score the next person will see. If anything is wrong, raise a dispute before confirming and the funds stay frozen.

Carrying a parcel

The traveller side, in the same detail

You stay in control at every point. Nothing is auto-assigned and you can walk away from a parcel right up to the moment you accept it at pickup.

1

Publish your trip

Route, date, mode of travel and spare capacity in kilograms. Publish as far ahead as you like — most matches come in 2–5 days before departure.

2

Review requests

Each request shows the declared contents, weight, dimensions, value and the sender's trust score. Accept, counter-offer on price, or decline. Declining never hurts your score.

3

Confirm escrow is funded

You'll see a green “payment secured” badge before you travel to the pickup point. If it isn't funded, don't collect — and tell us.

4

Inspect at pickup

You are entitled to see the contents before sealing. If the parcel doesn't match the declaration, refuse it in the app — the sender bears the cancellation fee, not you.

5

Carry it yourself

Keep the parcel with you or in your own locked luggage. Never pass it to a third party, and never let it leave your sight in transit.

6

Deliver & get paid

Enter the receiver's OTP, take the delivery photo, done. Escrow releases your share and settlement to your bank account usually completes within 24 hours.

Edge cases

What happens when things don't go to plan

The honest answers. These scenarios are the reason the platform is built the way it is.

The traveller cancels after I've paid

Your escrowed payment is refunded in full — it never reached them. We re-open your request to other travellers on the route and the cancellation is recorded against their trust score. Repeated late cancellations lead to suspension.

The receiver isn't there at drop-off

The traveller marks a failed handover attempt in-app, with photo and location. You'll be prompted to nominate an alternative receiver or reschedule within the agreed window. A traveller is never expected to leave a parcel unattended or with someone who can't produce the OTP.

The parcel arrives damaged

Raise the dispute before confirming delivery — that keeps escrow frozen. We compare the pickup and delivery photographs, the trip log and both accounts, then apply the outcome to the escrowed payment — full refund, partial split or release. Parcel protection, which would cover you beyond the escrowed amount, is not live yet. Full details in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

A traveller is stopped and questioned about a parcel

Every shipment carries a digital manifest in the app: the sender's declaration, their verified identity, the booking record and the OTP trail. A traveller can produce it on the spot. Cooperate fully with the authorities and contact our safety line — we maintain these records precisely so a lawful request can be answered.

The sender is solely responsible for what they declared and what they actually handed over. Deliberate misdeclaration is a permanent ban and is referred onward where the law requires.

Someone asks me to carry something off-platform

Don't. An off-platform arrangement has no escrow, no OTP trail, no photo proof and no record if you're questioned about the parcel. Report the request in-app — soliciting off-platform deals is grounds for removal.
